In this thrilling third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from Sarah J. Maas, the earth will be painted red as mighty armies grapple for power over the one thing that could destroy them all.

Review:
I have been dying for this book after the horrible cliff hanger that ended A Court of Mist and Fury. An ending that was NOT ok by the way! Hahah :p

I have actually re- read this book, no the series multiple times already and it still gets better and better with each re-read. In fact I had so much trouble waiting for my print copies to get here I have e-books and print copies of all three books.

Not only is this series one of the best love stories I have read in a long time, but this addition to the series has plenty of actions and adventure that keep you on the edge of your seat.

The good guys don't always win in these books and when the world isn't all black and white this shows the decisions and the weight that comes with the consequences of those decisions.

I like the twists and turns that came with this book. I couldn't think of a better way to end the tale of Rhys and Feyre's story and I cannot wait to see where the author picks up next.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Title: A Court of Mist and Fury
Author: Sarah. J. Maas
Authors Page: HERE
Synopsis:
Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.

Review:
If there is one book you read in your lifetime, you need to make it this one. Rhy's was my favorite in the first book simply because I have a thing for smart ass bad boys in the group. But after reading this book he was put at the top of my book boyfriend list.
He put the person he loves the most above everyone else, including himself. He was willing to be the monster, to be miserable as long as the lady of his heart was happy. He didn't want Feyre to rely just on her power. He wanted her to be the best person that she could be so that she didn't have to wait for anyone to save her. He wanted Feyre to be able to save herself.  Rhy's didn't treat her like a trophy wife that was hidden away or brought out to show off to his friends.

Rhy's taught her how to read, to fight. He patiently/lovingly taught her how to live and laugh again. This touches topics that show how it is to live and be in a relationship with a person who suffers from depression. It isn't easy and it is hard on the heart to watch them waste away but if he can weather the storm so can you.

There are always two sides to every story, three if you are counting the truth and in this one we learn the heartbreaking reality that Rhy's life while he served in Amaranthe's court. Just because he wasn't in chains didn't mean he didn't suffer.

In this book you will learn why he allowed himself to be cast as a monster and a whore  and you learn the truth about who he really is.

I thought I loved the first book but this one blew it completely out of the water. It blew my mind how much I could enjoy it.  This is a book that really shows what true love is.

I have heard people share how they couldn't get through the first book and I tell them just push through it. The second is the best in the entire series, you won't regret giving it a shot.

Coming your way!

Hello ladies and gents!
This week as you can tell I started putting up reviews for the Court of Thorns and Roses Series.
The first book is up, stay tuned this week for books 2 and 3 going live.

I also have a book generously provided for by Netgalley called All The Wrong Chords going live on the 1st.

There will be an Owlcrate unboxing on Sept. 2nd as well..hopefully, I am not sure if it will be the 2md or the 4th yet, it all just depends on the weekend. This weekend in the backwoods town I call home is a big festival called the Swift Silver Mine Festival.

In our small town it is a big to do with rides and what not so I will be taking the little one to the parade and going on some rides enjoying some real family quality time.

Why is there a festival for something called a Swift Silver Mine? I am glad you asked
, you can read about the Folklore surrounding it HERE

And while there may not be any mine hunting there is still plenty of rides and booths for good time fun.

Thanks for tuning in! Stop by if you want to see what meme's we post through the week.

Have a good day!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Author's Page: HERE
Synopsis:
Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

Review:
This was a completely spontaneous read when I first picked it up. I was going on a week long vacation to the beach and if I was going to go away and have adventures then you know I had to have some good books to bring with me.

I devoured this book. I couldn't put it down then and I can't put it down when I re-read it again. This series has been one of my favorite's of all time. It is at the top of my lists whenever I recommend a series to anyone else.

I liked that even when she was scared and going up against creatures obviously more powerful then her she didn't let her fear show. She was determined  and stubborn, a lot like how I hope I would be.

I like that for once the damsel in distress was a male and his court. The female was the one who everyone was counting on.

Rhy's is one of the bad guys you can't help but love. I love that sass about him and Lucien who didn't mind questioning and back talking his High Lord.  I think the main reason I love the sass and the questioning is because it reminds me so much of my own husband and his nature.

Carry Me Home by Jessica Therrien

Title: Carry Me Home
Author: Jessica Therrien
Author's Page: HERE

This galley was generously provided for by NetGalley in exchange for an honest Review

Synopsis:
Lucy and Ruth are country girls from a broken home. When they move to the city with their mother, leaving behind their family ranch and dead-beat father, Lucy unravels.

They run to their grandparents’ place, a trailer park mobile home in the barrio of San Jose. Lucy’s barrio friends have changed since her last visit. They’ve joined a gang called
VC. They teach her to fight, to shank, to beat a person unconscious and play with guns. When things get too heavy, and lives are at stake, the three girls head for LA seeking a better life.

But trouble always follows Lucy. She befriends the wrong people, members of another gang, and every bad choice she makes drags the family into her dangerous world.

Told from three points of view, the story follows Lucy down the rabbit hole, along with her mother and sister as they sacrifice dreams and happiness, friendships and futures. Love is waiting for all of them in LA, but pursuing a life without Lucy could mean losing her forever.

Ultimately it’s their bond with each other that holds them together, in a true test of love, loss and survival..

Review:
When I was in high school...or middle school, I forget which one, I came across a book by Omar Tyree called Flyy Girl. It was a favorite of mine growing up and to this day I still pull off the shelf or pull up on my reader, this book, ' Carry Me Home', Reminded me a lot of this book.

Carry Me Home is a book that gives you a glimpse into the gritty world of what can happen when you don't keep a close eye on your children. It is so easy to become lost when you are a teenager, especially when your parents suddenly split and you are thrust into a new environment.

Lucy (Guera) finds herself in situation after situation that pushes her down a dark path. She finds herself being initiated into a gang as she seeks acceptance and a false sense of belonging and familiarity.

I will warn that this book has a possibility for triggers. There are some graphic scene's that include rape, drugs and violence.

This book goes back and forth between the three women in the family. The Mother, Ruth and Lucy.
The author hints at the mothers gambling addiction and it starts off with the fathers drinking problems, and towards the end explains that it contributes to Lucy's addiction issues.

Growing up I wasn't as squeaky clean as most kids my age was. My parents were divorced, my mom worked a lot and a lot of responsibility was on my shoulders the same way they were Ruth's. I think that is why I enjoy these books, because of how relatable they are and a reminder that things can always go from bad to worse.

EXCERPT
The rope ladder swayed back and forth as the woman relentlessly moved up the sheer cliff rung by rung. Her fear and horror increased as the dangerous ascent brought her closer to the cave the elders had warned to avoid. Anyone who dared to enter the sacred place faced death, for it held within it the monstrous creatures of legend, the Asakkus—those that would bring about mankind’s destruction. If the visions that drove her to seek out the cave were right, it meant they were coming, and everything was soon to end.
The chill wind whipped down from the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains, stinging her skin as it howled and swirled across the desert towards her, its intensity increasing to nearly gale force. A strong gust hammered against her back and she instinctively tightened her grasp on the wooden rung, leaning into the cliff’s face, knuckles white from the exertion.
She was almost two hundred feet up, and the rocks below looked dark red in the failing light. The woman closed her eyes. Don’t fall. One slip and they would break her body to pieces. She glanced up at the top of the cliff.
Only fifty feet more.
Only fifty feet and she would reach the cave, finally learning the truth that surrounded the beings she had dreamt of; the creatures her people had created folklore about for centuries.
A high-pitched scream shattered the landscape. The woman immediately ducked her head. Feeling exposed, she scrambled up the ladder as fast as she could, scraping her cold hands against the cliff’s jagged edges and bruising her knees but oblivious to any pain because that shriek had not been human.
Moments later she reached the top and pulled herself up onto a flat ledge. The woman crouched down, breathing deeply in both fear and anticipation, continuing to listen for confirmation. Within seconds another inhumanly loud shrill echoed through the air. She pressed her fingers into her ears to muffle the piercing sound. When she dropped her hands, she noticed her fingertips were smeared with watery blood.
It had to be the Asakku.
She walked toward the mouth of the cave, hoping she wasn’t too late. In addition to the drawings and countless stories that drove her pursuit, the discovery of an elongated skull by her father in this very same region had created an unstoppable obsession to find one alive.
The woman had been bravely coming to the caves year after year. Each time gaining the courage to venture furtherand explore, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Asakku. The woman had to know what she was facing; then there would be an answer exposing their weakness. She must not fail if the human race was to survive.

Review:
This has been a book that has been popping up on my news feed multiple times. Everyone was raving about it and I was skeptical about it. The synopsis didn't sound like something I would be interested in so I just rolled my eyes and shuffled to another book and another cover. However I could not pass it up when it went on sale on Amazon.
That was another thing that made me nervous about this book, the last time I bought a book that was on sale on Amazon it was absolutely horrible.
So, warily I swiped to the first page and began my descent into the dark underworld of Ketterdam.

Normally I am not a fan when the author switches view points every chapter. It tends to be distracting on my part and take away from the story. It usually makes it hard for me to become fully immersed in the tale. This was not the case, I actually enjoyed the different view points since it let me see a full picture of what was going on.

I liked that these kids have been through hell and back and  they don't seem like kids. They seem like hardened adults and that was pulled through the writing.

I liked the love interests that is barely there but enough to get you invested and the sass that the characters have.
I am a sucker for sass really,
Hahaha :)

I liked that unlike most YA books anymore this did not focus on love interests but rather the job they had been hired to do and the tasks it involved.

This book was exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat.
I think my only complaint was that while reading it on my kindle it said I was only 75% through and then it ended, the other 25% was a sneak peak. Which I didn't even attempt to read because then I just know I would have to get the second book right that very minute.

Hello darling's!
Your weekends are winding down and hopefully you have plenty of juicy stories to tell the grand kids one day...or me. Either way it works. lol. As you can tell I live through you guys, especially since my weekend didn't consist of romantic rendezvous or wild parties. No, my weekend consisted of a sick kiddo and cleaning house. I know I know I am a crazy woman but I can't help it. My one high point probably consisting of jumping on the band wagon that is Game of Thrones.
GASP!
Did I just say that out loud..er type it?
Yep you read it right, I have not watched a single episode of Game of Thrones until this weekend where I have been watching episodes while the kiddo naps and in between cleaning.

Anyway,
The book that has been sharing my bed is a NetGalley find  and one that is full of toe curling, tummy tingling swoon worthy kisses. I am dying to find out how the love interests in this story get around their obstacles.

Make sure to add it to your Goodreads shelf HERE

I'm Not in the Band by Amber Garza

Title: I'm Not in the Band
Author: Amber Garza
More about the Author: HERE
Published June 12th 2017 by Entangled Teen (Crush)

I received a copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis:
I like Kassidy Milton. There, I said it. She’s funny, beautiful—even though she doesn’t know it—and my favorite kind of weird. But I can’t tell if she’s into me or just trying to get close to me for a chance with my famous twin brother instead. I mean, it has to be me. I am the better-looking one.

But Kassidy has some demons, and she’s not good at letting people in. That happens when you’ve been hurt by someone close to you. I can relate. Trust is a funny thing; it’s hard to gain but easy to lose. I might just learn that the hard way.
Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book includes a snarky heroine, a swoon-worthy hero, crazy best friends, your favorite music, and lots of feels.
Review:
I cannot begin to imagine the stress that would come with being a twin of a super star.  As the oldest of four, two of my siblings being boys, there were plenty of girls who were just friends with me to get close to my brothers. It is annoying and the source of a lot of my trust issues when it comes to friends. I cannot imagine how bad it would be with someone who was famous in the family.

It is hard enough being famous but being mistaken for your twin who is famous and not being able to have any privacy has to be a special type of torture. You didn't sign up for it but you are gonna get it.

The angst in this book was very relatable. As I said before I had my own trust issues because of people only being friends to get close to my brothers and the author nailed it with Archer's insecurities.

I liked how realistic the uncertainty of dating in high school and all the questions that came with it. Does she like me? Is this flirting?  Is this a date or are we just friends?

As a mom and a married woman I don't have to deal with these problems anymore so it is a nice reminder of what single life use to be. I read this book in one setting, it was the perfect bit of cute summer read that made laying out in the yard soaking up the rays bearable.

Review:
I was so excited for this book. It has been in my shopping car online for as long as it has been out. The cover is beautiful and eye catching, the synopsis is intriguing. I could hardly wait to get my hands on my copy of this book and finally I did. Only to wish that I hadn't.
I don't mean to be cruel about this book, I think that for some people they will love it, for middle grade I think it would be perfect, for me however not so much.

I was not a fan and I found that I was forcing myself to turn the next page and continue reading. This almost became a did not finish but after all the wait and all the hype I was determined to get through this book.

I wish there would have been more character development. They fell flat for me to the point I didn't even have a favorite character.

I did like the Cinderella retelling, I thought that was a unique twist on things. That and the convention settings were my only high points.

As a cos player and huge geek I was in love with that setting. It brought back many fond memories of going to conventions and making new friends and finding a second type of family that was accepting of all.
